The First Day of Nursing Assistants and Direct Care Workers Week–June 9, 2016–is designated as National Career Nursing Assistants’ Day to recognize nursing assistants who have dedicated their lives to the well-being of others. Nursing assistants, also known as nurse aides, direct care workers, caregivers, certified nursing assistants or home health aides, provide hands-on care and perform routine tasks under the supervision of nursing and medical staff.
More than 2.5 million nursing assistants help elderly, frail, or chronically challenged persons live in long-term care facilities and other settings. They provide nearly 80 to 90 percent of the direct care received by clients in long-term care facilities, bringing patience, a caring attitude and wisdom to their practices. Bethesda would like to thank each one of our Nursing Assistants and Direct Care Workers for your daily interactions and hard work to keep our residents safe, happy and healthy! You are the backbone of our organization and we appreciate all you do.
If you see your Nursing Assistants and Direct Care Workers this week, please take time to recognize and honor their hard work and dedication!
