Lutheran Social Services is offering a six-week program: Powerful Tools for Caregivers. This educational program is designed to provide caregivers with the tools they need to take care of themselves. Whether you provide care for your family member or friend in your home or at a distance, caring for someone with a chronic illness such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, diabetes, heart disease, Parkinson’s, chronic pain or stroke can be stressful physically, emotionally and financially. During this six-week program, participants will learn to reduce stress, improve self-confidence, better communicate their feelings, balance their life, increase their ability to make tough decisions, and locate helpful resources. Classes consist of 90-minute sessions from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. every Tuesday, from Oct. 29 to Dec. 3 at Lakeland Health Center, lower level. Refreshments will be served. Class size is limited to 10 participants. Pre-registration is necessary by calling Barbara Alsleben at 320-221-3747 or email her at [email protected]. Respite care is available upon request.
