Summer Sabbath
Sometimes it feels like we get on the treadmill of life and do not know how to get off.
Summer is a season to step back and set the reset button on our lives. We all need quiet time with our Lord, not just on Sundays but every day of our lives to remember and know God’s great love for us and God’s power to make us whole.
Marva Dawn writes in her book “Keeping the Sabbath Holy”, that we begin to refocus our lives by ceasing. We usually think first about ceasing work, but what about ceasing to worry and replacing it with remembering our blessings or naming the joys of each day? Or what about ceasing trying to be in control and trying to be God? Instead, draw closer to God and know that He is God and we are human.
Sabbath comes to us as a gift. It follows the natural order of creation. God created the world in six days and on the seventh day God rested.
Enjoy the gift of Sabbath Rest this summer.
