Olivia, Minn. – Bethesda and the Olivia Economic Development Authority announce that they have recently developed a partnership for the management of Fairview Place, an EDA-owned Senior Independent Living Facility in Olivia, Minnesota. The newly formed partnership will take effect July 1st, 2019 and expand the agency’s ability to meet the needs of the community through expanding health care and housing services within Renville County.
In 2018, the Olivia EDA established a committee dedicated to developing a future strategic plan for Fairview Place. “The committee was passionate about designing a program that enabled our current tenants to age well at home in Fairview Place and grow its marketability for prospective tenants,” said Susie Lothert, Economic Development Director. “This partnership enables us to not only achieve that goal, but it aligns us with one of the region’s largest senior care providers that already knows the needs of our community as well as we do.”
Program growth is targeted to expand the current independent living model to a service enriched model that includes the addition of on-site care staff, assistance with medications and activities of daily living, enhancing recreational experiences available and expanding the facilities dining program to include three meals per day.
The facility currently offers a total of 30 one-bedroom and two-bedroom market rate apartments. Transition plans also include the expansion of housing support units to meet the growing need of low-income seniors and exploring additional community-based programs to meet the areas aging needs.
“We are incredibly excited to come alongside Fairview Place to expand care and services to meet their strategic goals and serve more families. This is a great opportunity for both agencies and for the region,” said Caroline Chan, Director of Senior Housing and Community Development at Bethesda. “We love being a part of Olivia and the surrounding areas and look forward to new and exciting opportunities that could develop from this partnership.”
